Bringing Cloud to Sudurpashchim: From Learning to Building

Cloud computing is transforming how we develop, deploy, and deliver technology. But understanding the cloud is only the beginning; real learning happens when concepts turn into practical experience.

On May 19–20, 2026, we conducted a two-day AWS Fundamentals Workshop at Brixton College, Mahendranagar, creating an opportunity for aspiring technologists in Sudurpashchim to explore cloud computing through hands-on learning.

The workshop introduced students to fundamental cloud concepts and AWS services, including Amazon S3, Amazon EC2, AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM), and Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (VPC). Moving beyond theory, students gained practical experience hosting static websites using Amazon S3 and exploring dynamic website hosting with Amazon EC2, transforming technical concepts into real-world learning experiences.

Beyond the technical sessions, what made the workshop truly meaningful was the students' curiosity, active participation, and willingness to experiment independently. Seeing them connect theoretical knowledge with practical implementation reinforced an important lesson: cloud computing is best understood not just by learning how it works, but by building with it.

Organized by the AWS Student Builder Groups at LBEF and Tribhuvan University, in collaboration with Brixton College and Brixton IT Squad, the workshop reflected the power of student-led communities in making practical technology education more accessible.

More than a two-day workshop, this initiative represented a step toward encouraging hands-on learning, empowering aspiring builders, and strengthening the growing technology community in Sudurpashchim.

Because the next generation of cloud builders shouldn't be defined by where they come from, but by what they're empowered to create.
